Carlos de Haes was a Spanish painter of Belgian origin (Brussels, January 25 1829 - Madrid, June 17 1898).
He can be categorized as a landscapist within the general trend of Realism. He was professor of Landscape Painting of the School of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Fernando from 1857. Among his students were Jaime Morera, Aureliano of Beruete and Darío of Regoyos.
